The busiest time on the South Carolina high school athletics calendar has arrived.
The spring sport playoffs are in full swing, kicking off Monday, May 5, with non-stop action across Horry County for over two weeks.
Playoff action in boys and girls lacrosse already began, as has playoff matchups in boys tennis. Other individual spring sports — like boys golf and track and field — are settling into region meet and district meet season to determine which athletes will make the state championships later this month.
This week kicks off important team sport postseason competition in boys soccer, girls soccer, baseball and softball. Each sport does things a bit uniquely, and all South Carolina High School League brackets are a bit different across all classifications.
Here's a breakdown of how Horry County programs will begin the playoffs this week with their first-round opponents.
Full brackets — with further details on how each sport’s playoff action works — can be found .
