Like many of its patrons, I have been both highly entertained and deeply moved by musicals put on by our Theater of the Republic. This spectator-turned-(one-time) performer recently experienced first-hand the intricacies and intense coordination required to yield a live theater production, and the heart this cadre of people give to their art.

A TOR production magically brings a story to life. With countless, interrelating parts, professionals in stage directing, acting, voice, choreography, lighting, sound, costuming, stage sets and props weave a perfect show. Added volunteers are like the feet of gliding swans… performing backstage feats in the dark to meet the needs of the cast and assure comfort of the audience, handling ticket and concession sales, and more. The care and precision sought by all is admirable.

Cast members in our local theater represent the notably trained, local students, and our next-door neighbors – all with enviable talent. And as masterful as they are, what shines brighter is their spirit of unity and genuine camaraderie.

TOR’s Chief Wizard is Tim McGee – director extraordinaire, who most capably provokes the magic in each show. He IS live theater, accomplished in connecting and polishing all the parts. It is Tim who built a local theater family to delight audiences from near and far.

The people who are our Theater of the Republic selflessly give dedication and hard work. They are easy to love, as they are the coolest, smoothest, most warm, welcoming, and entertaining forces EVER!!! What a wonderful gift the Theater of the Republic is to the City of Conway, South Carolina! I raise my hat to them in love and gratitude.
