Sutton Farm 1

The Sutton Farm housing development outside Loris will have 265 single-family homes at buildout.

It鈥檚 spring, and the fields around Loris are growing single-family houses again.

D.R. Horton, one of the nation鈥檚 largest homebuilders, cut the ribbon on a new housing development on Wednesday, April 2, the second so far this year in the Loris area.

Sutton Farm will feature 265 single-family homes, ranging in size from 1,100-square-foot, three-bedroom cottages to 2,500-square-foot, two-story homes with five bedrooms and two-car garages. The community is located along Highway 66 a few miles outside downtown Loris.

Eight of the 15 homes built to date have already been sold, and build-out is expected to take three-to-four years at the sprawling community taking shape on the outskirts of town, said D.R. Horton Area Sales Manager Matthew Branson.

Homes range in price from $220,000 to $320,000, and lot sizes range from 14,000 square feet to 20,000 square feet.

The HOA fee will be $90 per month, according to D.R. Horton sales agent Monica Mica, and amenities in the new community will include a swimming pool, a pool house and a dog park. Construction on the pool will begin this summer, Branson said.

The homes come equipped with granite countertops, vinyl plank flooring and stainless steel kitchen appliances.

It is the fourth D.R. Horton development in the Loris area. The upscale Springview Landing has already been completed, while Harper Meadow and Meadow Walk are also under construction.

Sales agents are on duty from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays, and noon to 5:30 p.m. on Sundays at the model home at 241 Carver Willow Drive.

鈥淚 think it鈥檚 a fantastic addition to our community,鈥 said Samantha Norris, executive director of the Loris Chamber of Commerce, which held a ribbon-cutting ceremony. 鈥淚t will be good for the town and its businesses.鈥

Norris said Loris is well-suited to persons who want to live close to the beach, while still enjoying the benefits of living in a small town.

鈥淲e call ourselves the back porch of the Grand Strand,鈥 she said. 鈥淲e鈥檙e laid back, without the hustle and bustle."

Did the developers check to see WHERE the rain water will go? In Conway, non flood areas are now Flood zones because of development.
