The Arts and Innovation District in Myrtle Beach is a planned community in the heart of Myrtle Beach which will include a performing arts theater and currently has an incubator space for small businesses.

Le Manna Bread Company鈥檚 lease with the city of Myrtle Beach will be terminated, making way for a new restaurant in the downtown district.

City leaders on Tuesday, March 25, took their first vote to enter into a lease with Winnas Kitchen, a restaurant that could be the next tenant to take over the city鈥檚 building on 9th Avenue North.

Le Manna owners have been experiencing 鈥渧arious personal issues鈥 since opening in 2021 and wish to sell their business.

Assistant City Manager Brian Tucker said they reached an agreement to acquire the business鈥檚 鈥淔urniture, Fixtures, and Equipment鈥 in exchange for terminating the lease. He said the tenant spent over $400,000 in the initial purchase of equipment and the city will absorb 鈥渃hairs, tables, refrigerators, displays, utensils, mixing equipment, and ovens,鈥 which provides a ready storefront for the city to offer the incoming business.

鈥淐andidly, we鈥檙e getting a good deal,鈥 Tucker said.

The city sought a good fit for the location and plans for Winnas Bakery to take over the lease.

Myrtle Beach Mayor Brenda Bethune said the council will keep Le Manna鈥檚 owners in their thoughts and prayers and said she understood this was not an easy decision to make.

Winnas Kitchen operated on Main Street as a breakfast and brunch restaurant with dinner available for Friday and Saturday nights for several years. The renovations planned for their Main Street location have become extensive and time consuming, and acquiring this new lease will keep the momentum of their business going.

Tucker said the 507 9th Ave. N. location will be an expansion of Winnas Kitchen as they desire to maintain the two locations with alternative business models. He added the plan is to continue breakfast, lunch, brunch at the new location and Main Street will run dinner service and a mercantile.

鈥淭hey are very excited to be coming to ninth avenue and we are very excited to have them,鈥 Tucker said.

Downtown renovations have been a goal of city leaders to improve the quality of downtown Myrtle Beach. Ninth Avenue is in the heart of the Arts and Innovation District and has been a main focus of restoration to improve aesthetics that encourage residents to spend more time in the downtown area.

鈥淭his is a very generous contribution and we thank you for that. I also want to thank DC Blox for supporting our efforts with the state house last year with our budget request. That greatly helped us receive the money for the Living Labs, so thank you all,鈥 Bethune said.
