An officer from the Myrtle Beach Police Department was arrested and charged with domestic violence in the second degree on Aug. 25.

Aaron Allston, 36, was arrested at his residence by the Horry County Police Department on Monday at 10 p.m., according to the incident report.聽HCPD later said the offender was ultimately issued a citation.聽

HCPD officers responded to a reported disturbance between the victim and Allston at a residence in the Socastee area for an offense that occurred around 7:30 p.m., police said. The victim told officers that Allston left the incident location before officers arrived, according to authorities.

Allston is being charged with domestic violence in the second degree due to the victim鈥檚 injuries, the fact the victim and Allston share a child and the fact the victim is pregnant, according to the incident report.聽

Allston was discharged from J. Reuben Long Detention Center on $5000 bond Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 26.

Myrtle Beach Police Department released a statement at 10 a.m. Tuesday and said the department takes allegations seriously and Allston is currently on administrative leave pending the outcome of the judicial process.

HCPD was not available for comment.聽
