Veteran travel agent Scott Faust of Destinations 24/7 Travel Services loves his new life in Loris.聽

Thanks to the internet and social media, veteran travel agent Scott Faust of Loris can work from anywhere.

He鈥檚 a transplant, moving to Loris just recently. For years home base was Baltimore. But he鈥檚 been known to work from the beach in the Caribbean. And for 86 days four years ago, he worked from a hospital bed at John Hopkins Hospital while he waited for a new heart.

So he can work from wherever he pleases, and he says Loris pleases him most.

Faust and his wife Joan relocated on doctor鈥檚 orders. The stress of living in Baltimore wasn鈥檛 good for his health.

鈥淥ne of the things that really got to me was the crime rate. My doctor said 鈥榊ou鈥檝e got to get out of Baltimore,鈥欌 Faust recalled.

They considered Florida, and the Seattle area, where their son resides.

And they explored moving to Arizona.

But Joan went to college at Coastal Carolina University years ago and had fond memories of living in Conway, so 鈥淪outh Carolina was the calling,鈥 Faust said.

And they found what they were looking for in Loris. 鈥淚f I hear a fire truck, police car or ambulance once a week, that鈥檚 a lot here,鈥 Faust said.

But he still gets out and about. As a hands-on travel agent, and owner of Destinations 24/7 Travel Services, he鈥檚 seen much of the world.

鈥淚f the group is like 20 rooms or more, I go along. If it鈥檚 that big, I want to make sure everything鈥檚 right,鈥 he said.

The biggest group he鈥檚 booked a trip for was 80 rooms for a wedding in Cancun. The longest trip he鈥檚 arranged was a month-long honeymoon. 鈥淭hey did three weeks in Europe, and then a week in South Africa on a safari.鈥

He specializes in group vacations 鈥 weddings, family reunions, bachelor parties, cruises. Last week he was arranging a cruise for a church group that was booking 15 cabins. He recently sold a 23-day cruise.

Times have changed — he said he recently found one of his old business cards and got a chuckle from seeing his pager number listed. And he’s embraced it, writing a blog, maintaining his social media accounts, and updating his website at .

He鈥檒l do as much or as little for you as you want. He can arrange the big stuff like air or train travel; hotel or cruise ship accommodations. And he can handle the little stuff if you鈥檇 like, everything from parking and trip insurance to shore excursions, tee times, concert tickets and dinner reservations.

"Just name a place, and I can sell you a trip there,鈥 he said. 鈥淚 can take care of everything. Vacations shouldn't be a headache."
