Three Horry County schools have been selected as three of 12 statewide finalists for one of the most prestigious awards in state education.
The Academy for the Arts, Science & Technology, Socastee Elementary and St. James High are all finalists for the 2025 Palmetto's Finest Award, an honor given to roughly three to five schools each year by the South Carolina Association of School Administrators. The award highlights several factors, including student achievement, instructional programs and professional learning communities and culture.聽
This year's winners will be announced on April 30.聽
"We once again are excited to recognize outstanding and innovative schools in South Carolina," said Dr. Quincie Moore, SCASA Executive Director, in a press release. "These schools represent the many excellent school communities serving our state's families."

- Gold Hill Elementary School鈥擸ork School District 4 (Fort Mill)

- McCants Middle School鈥擜nderson School District 5
- Thomas C. Cario Middle School鈥擟harleston County School District
- Fort Dorchester High School鈥擠orchester School District 2
- South Florence High School鈥擣lorence School District 1
- St. James High School鈥擧orry County Schools
- Academy for the Arts, Science & Technology鈥擧orry County Schools
- Center for Knowledge/Center for Knowledge North鈥擱ichland School District 2
SCASA has more than 5,600 members and serves as the professional organization for school leaders in South Carolina.聽
